Thomas A Edison was one of the most prolific inventors in history and a defining figure of the modern industrial age.  He didn’t give up after one mistake – or even thousands – his mindset was “I’m getting closer” rather than “I’m falling short”.

Sometimes, life doesn’t unfold the way we expect.  Edison’s words remind us that mistakes aren’t obstacles – they are steps along a path.  Every attempt teaches us something valuable, even if it’s only what doesn’t work.

Simply recognising that setbacks are a natural part of any worthwhile pursuit makes us more likely to keep going.  Resilience, curiosity, and willingness to try again are the true fuel behind success.  They help us reframe our challenges and bring a spirit of optimism into our daily lives.

What’s one challenge you’re facing today that you could choose to see as a stepping stone instead of a setback?
